Description of Work
Post-Doc Opportunity in the microbiome laboratory of Dr. Izard 
The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will be focusing on the interaction of diet and the human digestive tract microbiome in context of health and disease. The project techniques include genetic material extraction, next generation sequencing, omics and ecological analyses of the microbiota, qPCR, cloning and other approaches to be determined in conjunction with the PI and in alignment with the laboratory needs and the candidate’s expertise. Participation in management and recruitment for our clinical studies are expected.
The candidate should be willing to handle microbial and eukaryotic cell cultures, as well as human body fluids, tissues and excretions. The Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. will have a strong experimental basis in molecular microbiology, cell culture (prokaryote and/or eukaryotes), sample processing, omics and/or ecological analyses. 
The position is available immediately. The salary will be commensurate with experience. The position will be renewed yearly based on available funding, satisfactory performance, and continued employability in the United States if applicable.
In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. required in related science
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experimental basis in molecular microbiology, cell culture (prokaryote and/or eukaryotes), sample processing, omics and/or ecological analyses.
