Position Summary
The Office of Donor Relations fosters positive and enduring relationships with donors built on trust and accountability through activities that acknowledge, recognize, and report on gifts, and engage donors in the life of the university. Reporting to the Director of Donor Communications and Recognition, the Senior Associate Director, Donor Recognition is responsible for leading collaboration efforts with UA partners as well as other university partners with regard to recognition signage and stewardship efforts for planned and existing building projects and facility donors. This must be an experienced professional adept at project management who has extensive knowledge of architectural signage and strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate agility and sound judgment and nurture effective working relationships with diverse constituencies, both inside and outside of the university community.


Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main contact for internal partners and outside vendors. Manage the production and installation of donor recognition signage and upkeep. Work with staff and other university partners to identify and manage production timelines and internal education for new building projects, and develop creative solutions with other university partners when facilities are affected by change.
  • Build, evaluate, and refine donor relations efforts related to donor signage and other recognition opportunities based on best practices in the field. Develop and implement a plan for ongoing stewardship of facility donors.
  • Work with the Director of Donor Communications and Recognition to develop and maintain standards and processes related to donor recognition and signage. Analyze, track, and maintain information on named spaces in the system.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide counsel in the area of signage and recognition for new building projects and existing building facility gifts. Respond, as needed and appropriate, to questions and requests for assistance from UA colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with physical recognition, preferably in higher education or the nonprofit sector, extensive knowledge of donor relations and stewardship.
  • Proven track record of effectively working and leading in a large, complex, dynamic and sophisticated organization.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to work effectively under pressure, juggle competing priorities, manage projects, organize time and identify resources for projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. This includes clearly conveying information in a way that is engaging, reflects the audience, and helps others understand and retain the message.
  • Wide-range of knowledge on academic units, current affairs in higher education, and research, as well as genuine interest in the ongoing affairs at the university and intellectual curiosity.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze, condense, and synthesize complex material and provide accurate analysis and summaries.
  • Ability to work across units and build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to effectively operate in a highly complex environment.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years of related experience.

Salary Range
$62,000.00 - $106,000.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
