General Description of the Position

This position is 100% Grant Funded

A strong background in bioinformatics (especially small RNA analysis), and experience in molecular biology, molecular plant virology and or plant genetic engineering.

Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The following are the essential functions essential to performing this job:

  • Participate in experimental design, implementation and evaluation
  • Participate in data collection and statistical analyses of data, write and present findings
  • Write comprehensive progress reports and final reports on completion of the project
  • Participate in writing manuscripts for publication and/or presentation at professional meetings 
  • The Individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Ability to work successfully with diverse student and faculty
  • Ability to work independently with very little supervision

  • Qualification Standards

    Ph.D. level research work in at least one of these areas

  • Data collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and proficiency in research, teaching, and service as discussed with the PI upon hire
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in RNA interference (RNAi) and bioinformatics analyses of small RNA transcriptomes.
