Position Summary
The department was formed in July 2012 through the merger of the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology and the Department of Cell & Molecular Physiology. The new department brings together two strong traditions of excellence in basic science and translational research, and in pre- and post-doctoral training, including undergraduate, graduate and medical education.
Our lab studies how lipids move within cells and between cells, for example from astrocytes to neurons. We use cutting-edge microscopy and biochemical techniques including superresolution microscopy, multispectral imaging, and spatial proteomics. We use these approaches to understand how defects in lipid trafficking contribute to metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to use spatial proteomics to identify novel proteins at lipid droplet-organelle contact sites, and to characterize resulting hits.
Educational Requirements
PhD graduate in cell biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry with a demonstrated record of productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience with cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry (e.g., protein purification), and/or microscopy and are preferred.
