Position Overview
The postdoctoral appointment in organic chemistry will be carried out in the research program of Dr. Joseph R Clark. The candidate will work on an organic chemistry reaction method development project. The candidate will be mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in organic chemistry method development projects and participate in maintaining good safety practices in the laboratory. This is a 12-month position expected to start in January 2024 and may be renewed for a second year upon mutual agreement with the research advisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Perform research in organic chemistry method development
-Develop synthetic routes for new ligands and synthesize organometallic complexes
-Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students
-Use and implement safe laboratory practices
-Maintain excellent records of experiments performed
-Attend research meetings, provide research summaries and present research in formal settings
-Participate in writing manuscripts and grants
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The candidate will have earned a PhD in Chemistry having specialized in method development, catalyst/ligand synthesis and/or natural product synthesis.
