Position Information


Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is a broad and interdisciplinary basic science department in the School of Medicine at UNC-CH. As a top-ranked, nationally-recognized leader in basic science research, our faculty and staff are engaged in innovative and cutting edge research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, cellular cytoskeleton, cell motility and imaging. The Department has over 50 faculty engaged in basic science research, education and national service. Many faculty and their laboratories provide training for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in the biomedical sciences.
Position Summary
The qualified postdoctoral applicant will exhibit prior training and competence in one or more of the following areas: i) in vitro and in vivo approaches to study endothelial cells or lymphatic endothelial cells, ii) use of genetic mouse model systems to characterize cardiovascular physiology and pathology and iii) assays of GPCR pharmacology and function and screening.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The qualified applicant will hold a PhD in a discipline related to cell biology, physiology, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, biology or other biomedical-related discipline.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior publication record in internationally recognized journals is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proficiency with in vitro cell culture approaches or animal models is preferable.
Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD or MD/PhD obtained within the last 3 years. Preference will be given to applicants with prior research training in the broad field of cardiovascular biology and/or G protein-coupled receptors. Previous experience with genetic mouse models and lymphatic vascular biology is also desirable.
