Department Summary
The vision of the Department of Biomedical Engineering is to create an innovative, interdisciplinary academic program that emphasizes the fundamentals of biomedical engineering; state of the art applications pertaining to biomedical instrumentation, biomechanics, biomaterials, biotechnology, biocomputing and other healthcare related areas in an environment of life-long learning and research.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
This is an NIH grant (R35GM150577) funded position in the Meckes Research Group (www.meckeslab.org ) at the University of North Texas. The project seeks to understand how mechanical environments alters nanoparticle trafficking with disease relevance in cancer, fibrosis, and epilepsy. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team were they will have the opportunity to contribute to to manuscripts, present at national scientific conferences, and supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A doctorate in bioengineering, chemical engineering, materials science or a related field
  • Peer-reviewed publications in nanoparticle delivery or related fields
  • Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will be skilled in cell culture and nanoparticle synthesis/characterization.
  • Microscopy experience along with ability to measure gene expression
  • Experience in cancer biology
