Postdoctoral Position in Planetary Science, Caltech

Prof. G.A. Blake and Dr. K.M. Pontoppidan are seeking to hire postdoctoral scholars in specific fields related to our collective near-term future work and long-term research interests. Please submit by 15 March 2024 a cover letter (≤2.5 pages; details on content below), a curriculum vitae, and (optional) 2 letters of recommendation.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated interest in our collaborative effort that combines JWST-MIRI mid-infrared spectroscopy of protoplanetary disks with Keck-NIRSPEC spectroscopy/spectro-astrometry in the atmospheric L- and M-bands. We seek applicants with a strong publication record, skills in complementary areas that extend the group's expertise, and who will both benefit from and add to the community at Caltech and the observatory/proposal teams with which we work. 

Qualifications include a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a related field. The appointment is for two years, with a third-year contingent on performance and continued funding. Base salary will be commensurate with experience. Reviews of applications will continue until the position is filled.
