The Infections of the Nervous System lab/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stoke, National Institutes of Health, are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study retroviral elements in the human genome and associated somatic mutations in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson syndromes, and Alzheimer’s disease. The incumbent will have access to long-read sequences from a large cohort of patients and controls, super computer (biowulf) and a robust intellectual environment of like-minded researchers with complementary skill sets. Prior experience with retroviral elements is desirable but not necessary. The successful individual must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science or related fields. The individual should have experience in analyzing large-scale genomic data (next-generation sequencing data, transcriptomic data).

This interactive project will work closely with the laboratories of Drs. Avindra Nath, Sonja Scholz and Bryan Traynor. Please contact [email protected] for more information
