Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Student Counseling Services at Iowa State University is pleased to offer a Post-Doctoral Fellowship (post-doc) position for the 2024-2025 academic year. SCS is within the Division of Student Affairs. This is a 12-month, 2000-hour, full-time position with a preferred start date of August 1, 2024.

This position affords the post-doc the opportunity to work in a dynamic university counseling center that serves a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body. Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the post-doc will provide individual, and group therapy from a short-term therapy model, conduct intake evaluations, crisis assessment and intervention, and provide outreach programs and consultation to the campus community. There are also opportunities for supervision of trainees from a doctoral program in counseling psychology and to pursue concentration areas (for a semester). Potential concentration areas include the following: Diversity, Administration, Eating Disorders, Grief & Loss, Suicide Prevention, Group Therapy, Outreach, Training & Supervision, Trauma-Informed Care and Mind-Body.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed the requirements for a doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and an APA-accredited doctoral internship.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • University Counseling Center Experience.

  • Group Counseling Experience.

  • Intake/Triage Experience.

  • Crisis Assessment and Intervention Experience.

  • Supervision Experience.
