Title Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Institute for Applied Computational Science
School Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Department/Area Computation and Data Science
Position Description
Harvard’s Institute for Applied Computational Science (IACS) aims to recruit and train the most talented, promising, and diverse group of post-doctoral researchers at the interface of computing and data science. IACS will foster young researchers and prepares them for tenure-track faculty careers with emphasis on those with a demonstrable track record of involvement in equity, diversity and inclusion in research, teaching and service.
IACS post-doctoral researchers will spark interdisciplinary collaborations in scientific fields interfacing with computing and data sciences. They will have substantial freedom in choosing their research focus; each will be assigned two mentors: one from Applied Mathematics/Computer Science/Statistics  and one from a complementary scientific field. These collaborations will facilitate abstracting computational and data science challenges beyond their native domains, and will help create a common language across disciplines.
The post-doctoral Fellows will join a vibrant, supportive community of masters, PhD students, post-docs and faculty and staff at IACS who are advancing the frontiers of sciences and technology. Embedded within a large liberal arts research University, IACS serves as the focal point for interdisciplinary collaborations in computational science and data science at Harvard and the Boston area community.  IACS is committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, and strongly encourages applications from members of historically underrepresented groups.
