Position Summary
The Indiana University Bloomington School of Education is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Qualitative & Quantitative Research Methodology. This postdoctoral fellowship position is part of the of the Health Equity Advancing through Learning health systems Research (HEAL-R) network. This is a multi-institutional collaborative that supports learning health systems to promote equitable patient access, experiences, and outcomes. Specifically, this postdoctoral fellowship is focused on an ethnomethodology and conversation analysis (EMCA) project designed to promote patient- and family-centered communication in a pediatric urology context. The project is focused on three areas of interest: (1) effective communication practices and barriers that involve pediatric urologists, child patients, and their caregivers, (2) quality of decisional experiences, and (3) management of complex care trajectories for children who need one or more surgeries. The fellowship also includes an opportunity to teach two graduate-level qualitative methods courses, including a course focused on EMCA.
This Postdoctoral Fellowship is a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month appointment. A competitive salary along with a benefits package will be offered.
Postdoctoral fellowship responsibilities will involve research as well as teaching activities. Duties for this position will include:
· Participate and co-lead an EMCA-focused analysis of video-recordings of pediatric urology clinical interactions;
· Participate in weekly data sessions and research team meetings;
· Co-develop and co-author peer-reviewed journals articles in relation to the project;
· Teach two graduate-level qualitative courses, including a course focused on EMCA;
· Participate in the design and delivery of communication workshop(s) for key stakeholders (e.g., clinicians) involved in the EMCA project; and
· Support the development of grant proposals associated with EMCA and health equity.

Basic Qualifications
· Must hold a PhD degree or equivalent in social or behavioral sciences relevant to ethnomethodology and conversation analysis by July 1, 2024.
· Experience with carrying out ethnomethodology and conversation analysis research.
· An emerging publication record.
· An affinity with the health equity and health professions education research.
· An interest in communicating their research results to a wider audience.
· A desire to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
