We focus on diseases of the aging eye, particularly age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataract. We use a wide range of techniques from cell biology and animal models to biophysics and structural biology. Recent work has discovered a new mechanism in AMD and a new model for crystallin aggregation.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have experience in cellular or structural biology and an interest in systems biology approaches. Experience in eye research is advantageous but not essential. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with less than 4 years postdoctoral experience. The position provides generous scientific resources, stipend support, and health benefits.
