We are interested in exploring the novel functional dimensions of human long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in regulating human cardiovascular development, metabolism, function and disease. These new lncRNA functions include the broad interactions of lncRNAs with various proteins, lipids and microRNAs etc. Research platforms in the laboratory include human embryonic stem (ES) cells, patient-derived induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, mouse genetic models, and animal models of cardiomyopathy, heart failure and vascular disease. During past years, the lab has published in Nature Cell Biology, Developmental Cell, Development, Genome Biology, Nature Communications, Nature, etc. Additional information of the lab could be obtained from the website: https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty-labs/yang-lei
Currently, there are two open positions for studying the molecule mechanisms of novel long non-coding RNAs in regulating cardiovascular health and diseases. The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated with a recent Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or cardiovascular related research fields. Solid experience in molecular biology techniques and ability to independently work in a collaborative research environment are required. Preference will be given to individuals with hands-on experience in RNA and/or epigenetic technologies. Bioinformatics or animal management skills are a plus.
The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research conducts basic science and translational research within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. The Wells Center houses more than 200 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees seeking answers to the most pressing questions related to childhood illness. With the collaboration between scientists and physicians, the center aims to increase knowledge of causes and mechanisms of serious pediatric diseases.
