Motivated and capable candidate needed for a Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity at Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope in the laboratory of Dr. Zhen Bouman Chen. Built upon her interdisciplinary training in medicine, vascular biology, bioengineering, and data science, Dr. Chen leads an active research program focused on noncoding RNAs and endothelial stress response. Her team integrates innovative high-throughput sequencing technologies, bioinformatics approaches, and multi-scale models to elucidate RNA-mediated endothelial biology in the context of diabetes. Dr. Chen is passionate about mentorship and peer support and has served as a member on the Women Leadership Committee of the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology Council of the AHA and is currently the Vice-Chair of the committee. As a successful candidate, you will:
· Work on NIH-funded projects with a focus on vascular biology and diabetes (and its complications).
· Work with the PI and other team members (including bioinformaticians, bench scientists, statisticians, and physician scientists) to perform experiments using cell culture, animal models, and donor-derived vascular tissues, conduct bioinformatics analysis for high-throughput sequencing data, and report research findings in scientific publications and oral/poster presentations at select scientific conferences.
· Be highly encouraged and supported in acquiring intramural or extramural funding for career development.
· A Ph.D. degree in life sciences
· Preferred experience in one or more areas of the following: vascular/endothelial biology, RNA/chromatin biology, high-throughput sequencing, single cell analysis, flow cytometry and imaging-based analyses, tissue processing, 3D/organoid culture, mouse models
· Preferred research in one of these disease areas: cardiovascular, metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
