All About You

NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join the laboratory of Dr. Aubin Moutal, in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at St Louis university to study novel proteins involved in chronic pain in the context of autoimmunity. Our work focuses on first identifying determinants of the transition from acute to chronic pain by reverse translating clinical findings to then perform a complete mechanistic characterization of how these new factors influence chronic vs physiological pain. The PI has a strong record of high impact papers with multiple recent publications in Science Translational Medicine, Pain, and PNAS. Through the active external collaborations with the New York University (Dr. Rajesh Khanna), the University of Arizona (Dr. Frank Porreca) and with the Institut neuromyogene (Dr. Jérôme Honnorat) in France, the candidate will also grow an interest in ion channel regulation, central mechanisms of pain and paraneoplastic syndromes, respectively.

Major techniques include immunohistochemistry, protein-protein interactions and protein biochemistry are employed to support findings from our behavioral and electrophysiological experiments. Applicants should have a strong background in animal surgeries and behaviors or electrophysiology or molecular biology, IF, IHC, Western analysis, and enzyme assays.
