Established in 1986, EOHSI’s major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals.
Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures.
Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures.
Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks.
Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) and Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH). The Postdoctoral Fellow will join the newly established Climate Adaptive and Restorative Environments (CARE) Lab. The CARE Lab’s mission is to advance the development and implementation of solutions to attain equitable, healthy, and sustainable environments. As such, the candidate is expected to work on projects ranging from development and testing of a new generation of ventilation systems, advancement of indoor air quality sensors and data processing algorithms, building energy and air quality simulations, and evaluation of climate adaptation interventions in international settings. The candidate will receive close mentorship to further develop data analysis, manuscript/grant writing skills, and will have access to vast resources for environmental health research across Rutgers University.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Contribute towards interdisciplinary research efforts in the Climate Adaptive and Restorative Environments (CARE) Lab by participating in research projects.
  • Participate in collaborative grant preparation with other investigators at Rutgers and other collaborative academic Institutions.
  • Present results at internal meetings at EOHSI and at national or international scientific meetings.
  • Work in a team environment which includes undergrad and graduate level students and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Train students in the lab.
  • Perform research resulting in first-author, peer-reviewed publications.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Must have a PhD (or about to graduate from a PhD program) in environmental health, environmental epi, civil and mechanical engineering, computer science, or other field associated with health in the built environment.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Data management and analytical skills in SAS, R and Python.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
