Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience.  Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the candidate will conduct research on cause and treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Preclinical studies include biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology and animal behavior. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Participates in experimental design and carries out experiments including animal handling and surgeries.
  •  Assists with the maintenance of the laboratory facilities, equipment and instruments.
  •  Records and analyzes data from experiments. 
  •  Maintains a proper data notebook pursuant to the standards of the department and the PI
  •  Contributes to the intellectual development of the project
  •  Contributes to the writing of manuscripts
  •  Candidates are encouraged to pursue research grant opportunities.
  •  Actively participates in scientific presentation and discussions within and outside the institute and engages in developing new research strategies where appropriate. 
  •  Remains updated on pertinent literature.
  •  Collaborates with other postdocs and students on the project.
  •  Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related scientific discipline.  
  • The individual must be organized and capable of multi-tasking.  
  • This individual must have good command of the English language and also must have strong writing skills. 
  • The PI is looking to hire a highly motivated individual who can work independently and who is willing to supervise PhD and Masters candidates.

  • Individuals with MDs may apply but only if they have significant basic science research training and publications.  
  • Knowledge in biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology and animal behavior preferred.
