The Department of Chemistry at Indiana University, Bloomington, consists of a well-rounded research community with cutting-edge expertise in a wide variety of modern disciplines including analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, and biochemistry.
Job Summary:
Shushkov Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University is seeking applications for a postdoctoral research position. The position offers the opportunity to develop and apply quantum chemistry methods to simulate the quantum dynamics of molecular and solid-state systems with broad applications in quantum information science. The applicant will leverage novel theoretical approaches to advance the application of chemistry to quantum sensing and quantum communication. Motivated applicants with PhD training in any area of chemistry, physics, and chemical engineering will be considered. General skills in C++ and Python programming are preferred.
Shushkov Lab offers a dynamic multidisciplinary environment. Applicants will emerge with a skill set that is relevant both to academia and to industry. Trainees will receive regular guidance to ensure progress is made toward their career goals, regardless of whether they are pursuant of traditional or alternative careers. Trainees are afforded the scheduling flexibility needed to maintain an appropriate work-life balance.
The successful applicant will play an integral role within our growing team of theoretical chemists. The applicant will be expected to design and execute independent research that involves development and application of quantum chemistry and quantum dynamics methods to molecular and solid-state systems for quantum information science.
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or chemical engineering, or any related discipline at time of appointment.

Additional Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or chemical engineering, or any related discipline at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Computer skills in C++ and Python are preferred.
The ideal applicant would have experience in the development and application of quantum chemistry and/or quantum dynamics methods.
Salary and Rank 42,000/ Postdoctoral Fellow
Special Instructions
The initial appointment for this position will be for 12 months. Additional 12-month extension will be available based on performance and/or availability of funds. A competitive salary along with a benefits package will be offered.
