Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.


Additional Department Summary: We seek an enthusiastic and self-driven researcher with a background in experimental nuclear or particle physics to join our team. Experience in working with detectors based on Liquid Scintillators, coupled with experience in data analysis and simulation using Python/ROOT and GEANT4, would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will lead a research and development (R&D) project to advance the Water-based Liquid Scintillator (WbLS) for upcoming dark matter and neutrino experiments.

The successful candidate will actively contribute to the R&D efforts, specifically engaging in the development of the WbLS. Travel to the research site (Brookhaven National Laboratory) periodically is required. Responsibilities include overseeing the operation of the WbLS 30T demonstrator at Brookhaven National Laboratory and developing simulations to evaluate the detector's performance.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field at the commencement of the appointment.


Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in both C++ and Python.
