Position Summary:
The Department of Chemistry at Villanova University and Dr. Kevin Minbiole invite applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Organic Chemistry. The position is renewable for up to three years and intended for candidates interested in an academic career at a primarily undergraduate (or masters-granting) institution.
As such, responsibilities are divided between research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in the oversight of an undergraduate- and masters-level research group funded by NSF grants and other sources, with research ranging from the organic synthesis of amphiphiles to the identification and characterization of natural products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The area of research is focused on 1) the synthesis of quaternary ammonium and phosphonium compounds that show antibacterial activity, and 2) the identification of natural products involved in chemical ecology, as well as other projects. Additional opportunities to pursue independent research interests will be provided. There will be significant mentoring of undergraduate and masters research students.
The candidate will also teach 12 contact hours per year in the Department of Chemistry, with occasional opportunities at the graduate level.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, or related area with relevant synthetic experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
