Position Summary

A Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity is immediately available for the highly motivated individual in the laboratory of Dr. Ya-Huei Kuo, at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, a prestigious NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The candidate will directly work on identifying mechanisms contributing to leukemia pathogenesis, immune evasion and therapy resistance; developing novel leukemia therapeutics; and participate in a multidisciplinary team work to study information flow and state-transition at multi-dimensional scales.

The research goals in the Kuo laboratory are to discover mechanisms of leukemogenesis and leukemia stem cell persistence; to develop mechanism-based targeted therapeutics; and to deliver useful tools to monitor and predict disease progression or therapy response. The laboratory utilizes genetic mouse models and patient-derived xenografts of leukemia combined with cell culture, biochemistry, functional genomics, high-throughput sequencing and mathematical modeling approaches.

Skills that are used in the lab include: flow cytometry, biochemistry, cell culture, metabolic assays, molecular cloning, viral vector packaging, cell transduction, mouse handling (transplantation, drug treatment, blood collection).

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

· PhD or M.D.

· Experience working with mice.

· Experience in multi parameter flow cytometry, biochemistry, molecular/cell biology techniques.

· Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
