Responsibilities

The Jaspan laboratory at Seattle Children’s Research Institute has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow.  Our laboratory is broadly interested in the interplay between host microbial and immunological factors as they impact susceptibility to infectious diseases the gut and genital tract. We are looking for a curious and motivated individual to be a part of our team working on the human virome. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating large datasets including viral, bacterial and immunologic data, to answer important questions regarding the influence of viral populations at mucosal surfaces to human health. The position may also involve in vitro cell culture and molecular assays to validate findings. An individual with a PhD or MD and strong computational background and molecular biology skills will be given priority.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience:

  • Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.
  • Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.


Required Credentials:


Preferred:

  • Previous experience conducting research in the pediatric arena.
  • Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing.
