Position Description and Responsibilities

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction and Dr. Stephanie Masta at Purdue University invite applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow with expertise in Indigenous contexts and qualitative research. The appointment is for one year with the option to be fully remote. This position is a fiscal year (12-month) appointment at the rate of $58,000. Funded through the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, this project focuses on the history of Indigenous contributions to the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).

Specifically, we are seeking dynamic and innovative applicants for the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct archival and oral history research on the role of Indigenous scholars in AERA and ASEE, including data collection, analysis, and preparation.
  • Assist in the creation of the Indigenous Scholars Storytelling Project.
  • Organize webinars and workshops to present findings for key stakeholders.
  • Disseminate findings through publications, op/eds, and other public-centered mechanisms.

October 1, 2023—September 30, 2024


Required Qualifications

This position requires a doctoral degree in a field of education, social sciences, humanities, or other related fields. Candidates will have experience conducting independent research.


Desired Qualifications

Applicants with experience in U.S.-based Indigenous research contexts will be given preference. Preference will also be given to applicants with experience in either/or AERA and ASEE. We seek individuals with experience in archival research and storytelling methods.
