Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Research

We are seeking an enthusiastic, talented researcher to join our thriving research program (https://millerlaboratory.org/ ) as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center (https://cancer.mcw.edu/ ). Our work focuses on breast cancer biology, mechanisms of drug resistance, and the development of innovative therapeutic strategies. Studies span the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical research, focused at the interface between the lab and the clinic to maximize the impact of our work on human health. The successful candidate will receive outstanding training and devoted mentoring customized to her/his career goals, and acquire research skills that will be invaluable in their future pursuit of academic, government, or industrial positions.

Potential research projects include: 1) understanding differences in drug sensitivity between growing and dormant breast tumor cells to develop rational therapeutic strategies; 2) identifying tumor microenvironment-derived mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer with a focus on bone metastasis; 3) developing drug-sensitizing therapeutic strategies.

Major Duties:

  • Design and conduct experiments with guidance from the PI
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Prepare and report experimental findings to the PI and at lab meetings
  • Present research findings at national meetings
  • Write and submit manuscripts for publication
  • Write and submit fellowship applications as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Less than 3 years of prior postdoctoral experience
  • Demonstration of scholarly productivity in terms of peer-reviewed research publication(s)
  • PhD in the biomedical sciences or other relevant discipline; or MD or MD/PhD with research laboratory experience

Salary will be commensurate with the NIH NRSA pay scale based on experience.
