Postdoctoral Fellow - Family Research Center

The Family Research Center in University of Denver’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position. Funding for the position comes from a combination of NIH-funded projects and federally funded evaluations of community-based programs. Fellows may be funded and supported for up to 3 years, pending performance and grant support. The position is located at the University of Denver and involves close collaboration with multiple faculty members within the Center.

Position Summary

We are seeking applicants with experience in clinical and/or community-based research, and in managing and supervising large research project using complex longitudinal or randomized controlled trial designs. Additionally, experience, knowledge, and/ or research interest in couples and family relationships, health disparities, maternal mental health, LGBTQ+ health, and longitudinal methods are desirable. Finally, we seek applicants with strong interpersonal skills, prior clinical research experience, and excellent organizational skills to enable management of these projects involving multiple, longitudinal assessments.

Faculty mentors at the Family Research Center are committed to providing mentoring and research resources that will support fellows in their professional development, including opportunities to submit and publish papers from multiple rich datasets available in our research lab, support for presenting research at conferences, and mentorship and time to write new grant proposals. In addition to data that would result from the current projects, the fellows would also have access to multiple datasets that the Co-Principal Investigators have collected. All these commitments are in the service of aiding the fellows toward establishing an independent research program. For clinically trained fellows, opportunities to accrue hours for licensure will also be available.

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., clinical psychology) by the time the position starts. Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and a research statement.

Essential Functions

Working Environment

1. Standard research lab and office environments.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $56,000-$68,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
