Position Overview
The Water Quality Center (WQC) at Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to start on or about January 2024 to May 2024. The successful candidate will work with multiple researchers in the WQC to collaborate on biological water/wastewater treatment process design and testing related to anaerobic biotechnology for wastewater treatment and renewable energy via biomethane.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate on water/wastewater research related to anaerobic biotechnology and microbial ecology. Help mentor graduate (Ph.D., M.S.) and undergraduate student research assistants. Co-author peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, proceedings papers, and/or conference posters. Be active in the scientific community and attend one or more conferences each year, preferably delivering a podium presentation or poster. Opportunities exist to learn about user-inspired research planning, intellectual property management, technology transfer, business modeling, start-up company functions, and industrial research.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in anaerobic biotechnology is highly desirable. Experience mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in a research setting is desirable.
