Postdoctoral Fellow - Drug Resistance in Hematologic Malignancies

Updated: about 2 months ago

Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

A Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity is immediately available for the highly motivated individual in the laboratory of Dr. Pamela Becker.  The research objectives of the Becker laboratory are to determine how individual patterns of mutations, gene expression and phenotype (stem vs. differentiated) correlate with drug sensitivity in blood cancers; to optimize precision medicine approaches using high throughput drug screens with custom drug panels for each disorder; and to develop new therapeutic modalities for myeloid malignancies targeting mutations or the microenvironment. The laboratory also utilizes patient-derived xenografts of myeloid malignancy to validate the in vitro studies.

For more information on Dr. Becker’s lab please visit here .

As a successful candidate, you will:

·         Directly work on identifying mechanisms contributing to drug resistance in hematologic malignancies and discovering new targets and therapy.

·         Utilize skills in the lab to include high throughput multicolor flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy, Western blotting, cell biology methods, cell transfection, high throughput drug screening, single cell mutation analysis, bulk and single cell RNAseq, mouse handling (transplantation, drug treatment, blood collection).

Qualifications:

·         PhD or M.D.

·         Experience working with mice preferred.

·         Experience in multi parameter flow cytometry, biochemistry, molecular/cell biology techniques.

·         Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

·         Experience with statistical analysis and data presentation
