| Scope of Job | The Postdoctoral Fellow is a trainee position within the department of Physics and Astronomy to pursue research as a vital component of their educational mission and professional career development. The fellow is expected to have initiative and some academic independency. This position is to work on multiwavelength studies of compact objects in binaries and other transients, as well as surveys in time domain astronomy. The candidate will work mainly with TESS data complemented with data from other observatories. Previous experience with these types of instruments is not mandatory. | Description of Duties | The following is a listing of typical duties that may be applicable to the position: The postdoctoral researcher is expected to carry out data analysis of the astronomical images provided. The postdoctoral fellow will use specialized software for the data analysis and is anticipated that they also develop the neccesary programming tools for the interpretation and visualization of the results. Publishing in peer-reviewed publications related to the focus of the research activities assigned as well as traveling to promote the results are duties expected for this position. The fellow will have the opportunity to work with and mentor graduate students. |

| Working Conditions | Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office/research environment; some travel is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. |
