Dean Eun-Ok Im, is a pioneer and leader in the use of computer and mobile technologies to study the experiences of racial/ethnic minority women and to eliminate gender and ethnic disparities globally. Dean Im’s Lab at the University of Texas, Austin School of Nursing (PI: Eun-Ok Im RN, PhD, MPH FAAN) is seeking to fill a postdoctoral research position. The post-doc fellow will assist in multiple NIH-funded studies on technology-based interventions for Asian-American women with various health needs.

In this position, with guidance from Dean Im, you will be responsible for leading an independent project that addresses our shared interests and aligns with your career goals. Your responsibilities will also include support of existing lab projects, including overseeing data analysis and dissemination, and mentoring and training junior scholars, and grant writing. Purpose

This position will be directly involved with three NIH-funded clinical trials.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting data, maintaining study records and meeting regulatory requirements
  • Critically evaluating and interpreting data through advanced quantitative analysis and determining next steps
  • Mentoring and training staff and students
  • Writing and publishing scientific material, including manuscripts
  • Presenting research at conferences
  • Contributing to grant submissions for external funding
  • Collaborating with the research team to coordinate operational development activities.
  • Collaborating with other researchers at The University of Texas Austin, nationally, and internationally


Required Qualifications

  • PhD in nursing, or a related field from a U.S. institution, earned within the last three years.
  • Desire to pursue a career in nursing research and scholarship
  • Technical skills related to behavioral sciences research, including strong quantitative and qualitative skills. Ability to use SPSS, or R desired
  • Bi-lingual (English and Chinese/Korean/Japanese)
  • Ability to work independently on projects
  • Strong proficiency in scientific writing demonstrated through lead-authored publications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to train and mentor staff and students


Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
