Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.


Additional Department Summary: The Computer Science Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellow position for research under the supervision of Dr. Jiaqi Gong. This position is funded by National Science Foundation. Initial appointments are for one-year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

The Postdoctoral Fellow position will lead research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science, focusing on applications within healthcare and education sectors. Designing generative AI techniques and algorithms for data integration and computational models, with objectives to amplify creative learning experiences in classrooms and fortify the resilience of rural communities. Devise frameworks for data modernization, consolidating metadata and diverse data to prepare databases for cross-disciplinary AI research and learning. This position will be involved in incorporating open knowledge graph networks and take the lead in drafting scientific papers and technical documents, presenting research findings, and aiding in the formulation of proposals for external funding.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science or other related areas.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong programming/scripting capabilities. Skills in data science and high-performance computing. Strong written and oral communication of research results skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience with generative AI deep learning, and active involvement in data science and machine learning projects. Experience in neural networks architecture, cloud computing, and database development and management. Background in computational modeling and machine learning.
