Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope , where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.
The Department of Integrative Translational Sciences at City of Hope comprises a diverse team of biologists, data scientists, engineers, chemists, and clinicians. Together, we collaborate to advance City of Hope’s mission of delivering groundbreaking treatments to patients with critical diseases and conditions.
We are excited to invite a highly motivated individual to join the dynamic and innovative translational research environment of Dr. Enrique Velazquez-Villarreal ’s team at the Beckman Research Institute. The Velazquez-Villarreal Lab focuses on molecularly characterizing colorectal cancer tumors using multi-omics approaches, including spatial transcriptomics, and single-cell/bulk genomic sequencing. We integrate this data with clinical information to advance the field of Precision Medicine
As a successful candidate, you will:
• Develop and implement computational pipelines and innovative bioinformatics strategies for the molecular characterization of tumors from extensive multi-omics datasets,
• Collaborate with fellow researchers from both academic and industry sectors,
• Provide training to other lab members,
• Publish scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals,
• Deliver presentations at scientific conferences,
• Actively contribute to the lab's initiatives, including manuscript preparation and research grant proposals.
As a member of our research community, you will benefit from comprehensive training in cancer research, multi-omics analysis, clinical/genomic data integration, AI/ML research, Precision Medicine, and gain hands-on experience with advanced computing infrastructure. This includes access to high-performance computing (HPC) clusters at City of Hope.
Your qualifications should include:
• Ph.D. or M.D., Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, cancer genetics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in integrating and analyzing large multi-omics datasets.
