Job Description

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available within the Louis Madsen research group. The position will be focused on the fabrication and characterization of advanced battery materials to generate batteries with high energy density, high stability, wide temperature window, sustainable processing, and excellent safety. The project will involve the fabrication of polymer-based composite electrolytes and electrodes for metal ion batteries. The postdoctoral associate will perform electrochemical tests and NMR analyses on batteries to investigate conduction and degradation phenomena as well as interactions between electrolytes and electrodes. The postdoc will use advanced analytical techniques (NMR spectroscopy and diffusometry, SAXS, XRD, microscopy) to investigate individual battery material components and electrochemical cells under operating conditions.


Required Qualifications

- Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, physics, or an appropriate related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- Experience in materials fabrication/processing and characterization of battery materials and related polymer-based materials.
- Strong work habits and the ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.
- Strong communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

- First author research publications.
- Strong experience in NMR analysis, ideally of materials.
- Presentations at conferences and/or other instances of communicating research work.
