Postdoctoral Associate position on the Determinants of Early Word Learning 
Bergelson Lab, Psychology & Neuroscience Department, Duke University 
We are currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate as part of an NIH funded R01 (pending final approval) on early word learning. In particular, this work will focus on the potential links between word learning and other social, linguistic, and cognitive skills over the first two years of life. The studies will employ behavioral methods (e.g. eyetracking, discrimination, and selection tasks) in both cross-sectional and longitudinal designs to test the viability of potential prerequisites of improving word knowledge. 
The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for helping implement experiments, as well as collaborate on analysis, and dissemination to scientific venues and the general public (through taking the lead in writing up publications and presenting research at conferences and other community outlets). This individual will also be responsible for collaborating with the PI and team on extensions to the program of research beyond the project period. Along with receiving mentorship by the PI and Co-I’s, the Postdoctoral Associate will also have opportunities to mentor junior researchers in the lab. 
Desirable candidates will have a PhD in language and/or cognitive research, expertise in behavioral and/or observational methods, and strong analysis and writing skills. Experience with a young child population (or capacity for and strong interest in developing this experience) is also recommended. This position offers excellent opportunities for gaining extensive expertise in developmental and cognitive psychology and language science. 
Duke Psychology and Neuroscience has a strong community of researchers (see primary faculty here). Colleagues with highly relevant research in the department notably include Drs. Michael Tomasello and Tamar Kushnir, and Makeba Wilbourn. We are part of Duke CHILD Studies.
