Position:  Postdoctoral Associate

Department:  Genetics

Hiring Faculty:  Dr. Yong-Hui Jiang

The Jiang laboratory in the Genetics and Neuroscience is seeking highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position. Interests in the laboratory focus on developing new treatments for neurogenetic and neurodevelopmental disorders using CRISPR somatic genome editing approach. In collaborating with Dr. Jiangbing Zhou, Professor of Biochemical Engineering, we have developed a new delivery platform for genome editing mediated by Cas9 and dCas9 in brains and other organs. The new delivery platform, termed Stimuli-responsive Traceless Engineering Platform (STEP) is a non-viral and non-nanoparticle based platform that is capable to penetrate to brain very efficiently.  We have recently received a large NIH grant as a part of Phase 2 of NIH Somatic Genome Editing Consortium. The candidate is expected to develop and test a CRISPR/Cas9 editing based treatment for neurogenetic diseases of interests in mouse model as well as in patient derived IPSC and brain organoids.

Applicants should be highly motivated with experience in molecular biology, neurological techniques, and mouse study. Of particular interest are candidates with research experience neurogenetic disease mouse models.  The candidate must have a recent PhD or MD/PhD degree in a relevant field with a proven track record of scientific productivity including at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Excellent written and oral communication skills are expected. The candidate will be expected to work independently in the design and execution of experiments with guidance from the principal investigator. As projects in the laboratory are often highly collaborative, the candidate should be able to work effectively and enthusiastically in a team environment.

Candidates should send a Curriculum Vitae, a statement of research interests and career goals, and names / contact information for three references to: [email protected]. Anticipated start date is immediately.
