Summary

The Division of Surgical Oncology is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associate (PhD). The clinical research will focus on malignancies including breast and lung cancer and intraoperative studies. This position coordinates day-to-day activities of research protocols, which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization, and safety of research participants. Will supervise other research staff.

 

Under this role, the postdoctoral researcher will work in research projects involving the use of mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging in biomedical and cancer research. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to be able to perform experiments using mass spectrometry instrumentation, as well as data and statistical analysis. The postdoctoral researcher is also expected to lead clinical studies and participate in research involving human subjects. They will interact directly with clinicians, surgeons, and pathologists to fulfill the aims of the research projects.


Job Duties
  • Plans, directs and conducts advanced research experiments using mass spectrometry.
  • Evaluates and analyzes mass spectrometry data.
  • Performs statistical analysis.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
  • Assists with grant proposal writing and progress reports.
  • Assists with laboratory operations.
  • Supports supervision of research staff including graduate and undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in mass spectrometry
  • Experience with ambient ionization mass spectrometry and/or mass spectrometry imaging is desirable.
