The lab of Dr. Hening Lin at The University of Chicago in Chicago, IL is looking to add a dynamic, collaborative, and curious Postdoctoral Associate to their research community. The Lin lab is interested in enzymes that post-translationally modify proteins, including nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-consuming enzymes, such as sirtuins and ADP-ribosyltransferases, and the ZDHHC family of palmitoyltransferases. Lin and his team combine organic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, and mouse genetics to discover new enzymatic activities and understand the physiological function of these enzymes. They specifically emphasize work on the regulation of the enzymes because such regulation often reveals key physiological functions, enabling the team to develop small molecule inhibitors as potential therapeutics for treating human diseases. More information can be found on the lab's website.

About the Role:

In this role, you will support the lab’s research focused on enzyme interaction with proteins, and the impact for different biological pathways. Through use of various techniques focused on immunology and inflammation coupled with basic molecular biology, you will have the opportunity to work with incredible researchers across a variety of specialties and applications. We are hoping to find someone who is exceptionally motivated, self-directed, and passionate about pushing the bounds of what we know of science.

What We Provide:

  • Diversity of training and exposure to different projects and types of science - including protein assays, enzymology, cell biology, immunology, use of animal models, and more

  • Experience with techniques frequently used in the Biotech and Big Pharma industries - with the opportunity to work on research focused on the basic understanding of science used to help develop pharmacological therapies
