Summary
A Postdoctoral Associate position in cancer immunology and immunotherapy is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children's Cancer Center. The project aims to develop and test novel CAR-redirected immunotherapy for pediatric solid tumors. In particular, a CRISPR/Cas9-based mutagenesis screen will be applied to discover and therapeutically target novel regulators of the immune effector cell antitumor activity. The lab offers outstanding state-of-the-art, recently expanded laboratory facilities and a highly interactive environment for basic, translational, and clinical investigators. The individual must have a recent PhD degree and an expertise in molecular biology and tumor immunology with a documented record of productivity.
Job Duties
- Tasks to design and conducts the experiments related to the project with the help of the mentor and other team members.
- Analyzes the data and presents the evolving results at weekly laboratory meetings and research seminars of the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy and the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy.
- Works on the details of the experiments and the findings will be recorded in electronic laboratory notebook.
- Writes technical reports and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in immunology, genetic engineering or related fields.
- Great fund of knowledge of tumor immunology principles.
- Able to assess scRNAseq datasets and highly parametric flow cytometry.
- Understands and practices genetic engineering techniques (transfection, retroviral / lentiviral transduction, transposition, CRISPR-Cas9).
- Experience with viral particle assembly and excellent aseptic cell culture technique.
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn in a fast-pace, collaborative environment.
- Has strong organizational skills, record keeping, and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
