Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University
The EBC Laboratory : Under the direction of Prof. Junfeng (Jim) Zhang, the Exposure Biology and Chemistry (EBC) Laboratory, Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, has been established to develop and apply exposure assessment methods in environmental health research and to conduct quantitative analyses of health effects. The research conducted in the Laboratory focuses on the complex interactions between human host factors (e.g., epigenetic traits, health status, socioeconomic indicators) and environmental exposures (especially air pollution) in order to understand how environmental exposure affects human health at the individual and population levels. As such, research outcomes are expected to support public health polices and to help design precision prevention and intervention strategies to reduce the harmful effects of exposure to environmental hazards.
