Work Performed

Conduct a variety  of investigations including planning, development, and implementationo f experimental procedures as well as data analysis under supervision of seniorscientists to contribute to research projects

      Independently perform bench work,mammalian cell culture/cell-based assays of gene expression, neurogenesis andinnate immune responses.

      Learn and conduct mouse surge riesand subsequent animal health monitoring.

       Prepare common lab solutions,reagents, and tiss ue specimens for complex procedures.

      Evaluate and interpret collecteddata and prepare repor ts and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends,and appropriate r ecommendations or conclusions.

      Review scientific literature to keepabreast of new developme nts and to obtain information regarding previousexperiments to aid in th e design and development of original procedures and techniques.

      Maintain up-to-date laborato ryinventories of critical reagents/chemicals, cell lines, plasmid constr ucts,supplies, etc., and ordering additional items as needed.

      Assist with writing large rese archgrants (e.g. NIH R01) and independently write and submit (with appro priatementorship) postdoctoral fellowship grants to NIH (e.g. F32) and f oundations. •

      Communicate scientific results tocolleagues, mentors, and the broader s cientific community 

Candidates for this position should have a completed P hD in molecular biology, with an emphasis on cancer cellbi ology.

     Minimum 3-5 ye ars of life scienceresearch experience.

      Experience working with mouse modelsof disease, especially mouse modelsof Alzheimer’s pathology.

      Technical aptitude for learning andexecuting complex experimental techniques for molecular biology, cel l-basedassays, and rodent procedures.

      Ability to adapt to unforeseenchallenges and act with urgency to resolve critical project issues.

      Ability to handle administrativeresponsibiliti es (e.g. ordering, inventory) as needed.

       Impeccable experimentaldocumentation and organized record-keeping skills, ideally with experienceusing an electronic noteb ook.

      Familiarity wi th the development oflaboratory protocols for SOPs, grants, IACUC, IBC a nd IRB documents.

      A bility to effectively workindependently and in a team environment in a f ast-paced lab.
