Position Description:  Apply
Postdoctoral Associate in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University

The Laboratory for Generative Biology at Duke University, led by incoming Professor Pranam Chatterjee, will commence operations in July 2022. We will leverage machine learning-based protein design to develop the next generation of tools for:

In the immediate future, we seek to apply our computationally-designed editors to correct disease-related mutations and to degrade pathogenic proteins for therapeutic purposes. Our long-term goals are to employ our novel cell engineering methods to generate functional gametes, as well as other ovarian cell types, from stem cells: https://pratt.duke.edu/about/news/pranam-chatterjee-engineering-reproductive-system-one-protein-time

We seek motivated developmental biologists and computer scientists with PhD-level expertise in at least one of following areas:

-Stem cell biology (ideally with a focus on reproductive systems) -Machine learning or data science -Computational protein modeling/engineering

The ideal candidate will be excited to apply their expertise in new, innovative directions. As a founding postdoctoral associate in the lab, they will have a principal investigator-like role, where they can establish new research methods, lead junior researchers, and apply for funding. Most importantly, their work will be heavily translational, thus enabling opportunities to found start-ups, venture into industry, or continue on the academic path. Overall, the chosen candidate will receive strong support, mentorship, and guidance for their future career, both within the lab and in the Duke community.
