Summary

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral associate to study aortic aneurysms and dissections. The purpose of the research is to understand the molecular mechanisms of vascular injury, repair and remodeling during aortic disease development. Signal transduction and gene expression regulation in vascular wall will be investigated using different techniques in molecular biology, cell biology and vascular biology.
 


Job Duties

 

  • Performs experiments: 
    • Animal breeding and genotyping to generate tissue specific gene knockout mice. 
    • Animal surgery and vascular imaging.
    • Human and animal tissue analysis (e.g. histology analysis, immunostaining, Western blotting and RT- PCR).
    • Advanced technology such as single cell RNA sequencing will be used
  • Analyzes data.
  • Presents findings at national and international meetings.
  • Prepares manuscripts for publication. 

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three - Four years of experience in basic science research.
  • Motivated individual with strong work ethic, good organizational and communication skills.
