Job Purpose
A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. The group studies the novel mechanisms underlying chronic pain, chronic pain-induced mood disorders, and opioid analgesic tolerance at molecular, cellular, and synaptic network levels, using a multidisciplinary approach that includes Patch-seq, mice genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, virus-mediated gene transfer, imaging, and behavior analyses. Job Duties
- Work on a project involving synaptic structural and functional plasticity mechanisms underlying chronic pain and chronic pain-induced mood disorders.
- Develop and execute original research and possess a high motivation to drive and conduct research.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrate a solid publication record and evidence of excellent skills/experience in one or more of the following areas: mouse behavior, small animal surgery, electrophysiology, imaging, biochemistry.
- Strong background of neuroscience and/or electrophysiology.
