The Shulman Laboratory in the Departments of Neurology, Molecular and Human Genetics, and Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral clinical research fellow. The postdoc will join a dynamic research team investigating neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Participation in national and international human genomics consortia foster remarkable opportunities to join gene discovery and subsequent functional genomic validation efforts. Current areas of special focus include endo-lysosomal mechanisms and the genetic basis of clinical heterogeneity in Parkinson’s disease.

Job Duties

The postdoc will participate in the development of new clinical research cohorts with quantitative motor phenotyping using biosensors and comprehensive genomic profiles. The most promising genetic pathways are also being pursued in fruit fly and mouse genetic models. Working closely with Dr. Shulman and other group members, the postdoc will refine their independent project, and be responsible for designing, carrying out, and analyzing results from their experimental plans. They will additionally take the lead on writing scientific manuscripts as well as contributing to research grant applications.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

Experience: None required.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an M.D. and interest and experience in movement disorders neurology.
