Summary

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be working in collaboration with the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) to tackle the diagnosis of rare neurological diseases using the fruit fly as a model organism. The UDN physicians identify variants based on sequencing information from patients. The corresponding homologs are then studied in the fruit fly to uncover novel disease-causing genes. He or she will focus on genes that encode neuronal proteins and are associated with neurological disorders in human patients. His work will help us uncover new rare genetic human diseases as well as the underlying mechanisms. PhD is required


Job Purpose

Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional.


Job Duties
  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • May establish new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
  • May be responsible for laboratory operations.
  • May supervise research staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
