A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is immediately available in the Sato Lab in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for research projects studying molecular and physiological basis of circadian-metabolic cross-talk in mammals. They will coordinate with other researchers in the lab to perform the experiments and analyze the data. Required Education:

  • Appropriate Doctoral degree (PhD or MD)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Molecular biology and biochemical skills: RNA, DNA and protein extraction from tissue and cells; Genotyping PCR, RT-PCR, Real-time PCR; Western blot; Cell culture skills
  • Animal works skills: Handling of small rodents (rats, mice) and subjecting them to forced exercise using an animal treadmill and voluntary exercise using a running wheel; Tissue collection and blood sampling.from small rodents
  • Computational biological skills: Excel, Prism, statistical analyses
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree in Biological Science, Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and Nutrition or related field such as Health Science, Medicine, Metabolism, Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular biology
  • 4 years relevant laboratory experience   
  • Experience performing laboratory experiments (PCR, western blot, etc) to obtain data)
  • Experience performing experiments using small rodents and collecting rodent tissue and blood samples
  • Experience in cell culture
  • Experience analyzing data and handling high-throughput data-set (metabolome, transcriptome)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organization skills

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments - Performing research experiments using mice or cultured cells.
  • Training - Training graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Documentation - Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts, presenting findings, and contributing to grant proposals. Performs other duties as assigned.
