Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Computational Dynamics and Materials Laboratory led by Prof. Wenjie Xia at Iowa State University aims to develop a multiscale materials-by-design framework to facilitate design and development of high-performance multifunctional materials.

The Postdoc Research Associate will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of computation, modeling and mechanics projects related to the multifunctional behaviors of polymers, nanocomposites, advanced coatings, biointerfaces, and complex matters. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers consisting of graduate and undergraduate researchers.

Opportunities will be provided to obtain training in teaching, grant writing, and research mentorship. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal in the subsequent years based on performance.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in a related engineering or science field


Preferred Qualifications:

• Research experience, including a record of scholarly publications

• Expertise in modeling and/or experimental techniques, machine learning, or other methods used for the mechanical and physical characterization of materials

• Background in soft matter and/or data-driven research in polymer science, biophysics, or related areas
