Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

A position is available for a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Entomology at Iowa State University to study interactions between corn rootworm species and entomopathogenic nematodes.  The western and northern corn rootworm are among the most serious pests of corn in the United States, and the use of entomopathogenic nematodes offers a potentially novel approach to manage these pests.  The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigator to conduct field and laboratory experiments focused on understanding the potential use of entomopathogenic nematodes in the management of corn rootworm.  The initial appointment for this position will be for one year, with the possibility of extending the position for two additional years.   


Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Entomology or related discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with field research

- Past research experience with agricultural pest insects

- Understanding of insect pathology

- Previous research experience studying entomopathogenic nematodes

- Course or research background in ecology
