The Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Evaluation Studies (HOPES) is the community’s partner and Ohio State University’s home for health policy and health services research. We provide evidence for policies and programs that work to improve health equity.

We are seeking a post-doctoral scholar with significant experience in mixed-methods research, health services research, programmatic and policy evaluation, health equity and social justice, and community-engaged/-participatory research. A successful candidate must have team science experience with interest in building and enhancing academic-public partnerships for clinical and public health improvement. Grant writing, research development and planning, and research translation and dissemination experience is desired.

Duties:

60% Research planning and design, management, implementation, reporting, and dissemination (as publications and presentations). Areas of research include:

  • Mixed-methods
  • Health services
  • Programmatic and policy evaluation
  • Health equity and social justice
  • Community-engaged/-participatory methods and human-centered design, and may cover the following topics (not exhaustive):
    • Environmental justice
    • Reproductive health
    • Mental health, addiction, and harm reduction
    • Social determinants of health
    • Gun violence prevention

20% Partnership building and engagement for advancing HOPES and own research agenda

10% Business and new projects development and grant writing

10% Administrative duties related to managing research projects and grants


Additional Information:

Qualifications:

  • Relevant university education with a completed doctoral/PhD degree and a strong interest in health equity and social justice research
  • Proficiency with quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Proficiency with public or clinical health programmatic, policy, or economic evaluation
  • Proficiency with SAS, R, Stata, or other statistical analysis software
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills and strong ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to supervise other research team members, including students

Salary and Benefits:

  • This position salary range $65,000 - $72,000, includes full staff benefits, and is eligible for annual merit pay increases pending annual performance review.
