This expertise could have been gained during the normal course of a doctoral degree program. |

Job Duties
Job Duty | Field and laboratory experimental work. Will travel to the field, such as the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, to collect seawater and sediment samples. Will use collected samples for DNA and RNA extraction in the laboratory, as well as microbial cultivation. Some samples will be used for incubation experiments. The physiology of marine microorganisms will be characterized in the lab by cultivation under different conditions. Perform 15N incubations to determine the contribution of salt marsh sediment fungi to nitrous oxide production.
